DURA-EEZ™ Finishing Instructions
DURA-EEZ™ Paint Grade Composite Doors provide the unmatched durability of composite materials without the maintenance. To ensure your doors maintain their beauty and performance for years to come, proper finishing is essential. Follow these recommendations to achieve a long-lasting finish on your DURA-EEZ™ Paint Grade garage or entry door.

Step-by-Step Guide to Finishing DURA-EEZ Paint Grade Doors
Step 1: Choose the Right Paint
To ensure durability and weather resistance, we strongly recommend using Sherwin-Williams 100% Exterior Acrylic Latex Paint from the following approved lines:
- ✔ Emerald® Exterior Acrylic Latex
- ✔ Duration® Exterior Acrylic Latex
- ✔ Resilience® Exterior Acrylic Latex
These high-quality paints provide excellent adhesion and flexibility, preventing cracking, peeling, and fading.
Step 2: Select the Right Color
DURA-EEZ™ doors must be painted with approved colors to maintain warranty coverage.
- Choose from our recommended color palette below.
- Do not adjust or customize these colors.
- If selecting a custom color, ensure:
- It has a Light Reflective Value (LRV) of 55 or higher.
- It is a Sherwin-Williams Vinyl Safe paint. (if choosing a darker color you must add solar reflective pigment)
- You confirm the LRV using Sherwin-Williams Vinyl Safe Color Guide.
- 🚫 Colors with an LRV below 55 or unknown LRV should NOT be used on DURA-EEZ™ doors and voids the warranty.
- 🚫 If you want to use black or any color below 55 LRV, you MUST use IC&S APUR Stone paint with solar reflective pigment from Hirschfield’s.
-
Note: Custom colors should only be used if they are made from a specialty paint with solar reflective pigments.
-
If these recommendations are not followed, the product warranty will be void.

DURA-EEZ™ Composite Care & Maintenance
Although DURA-EEZ™ alternative composite doors are engineered for extreme low maintenance, they will still require cleaning from time to time to keep them looking their best. Please refer to the below instruction on how to care for both the wood-grade and paint-grade composite doors.
- Clean with soft cloth with mixture of mild detergent
- Use simple detergents including Dawn dish soap or Simple Green
- Always use wet cloth towels or rags for cleaning to avoid transfer of pigment onto the surface during cleaning
- Cotton t-shirt materials work well and prevent cloth fibers from sticking to the material
- A heat gun can be used to remove or blend most surface dents or scratches which may occur
